Today is July 4th. Let me tell you about this past week though. Wait, it’s pretty boring. Other than the water main break we had.

Our property starts on the inside of the sidewalk off a city street. A water main broke on the outside of said sidewalk. We have no way of turning off the water so it bubbled all day.

I called the city at 10:30am. Finally at 5:30pm, a city worker comes out and shuts off the water. Instead of calling someone to come fix it, this lazy dude decides it’s the neighborhood’s problem and the city is not responsible. Umm, what??? 4 buildings in my neighborhood now have no water and I now have to find a plumber the night before a holiday weekend???

I called 4 plumbing companies I’ve heard of. One said we have to get a credit check before they will come. Huh? Are you kidding me??? It’s a neighborhood, not an individual house! I got frustrated and was like screw it, they’ll have to go without water until the next day. Then I called Cris. I was complaining about the issue and she said HEY! Call this house renovator I know and maybe he will have someone. I called this guy at 6:30pm. He said he couldn’t do it but to call his friends company and he would tell the guy I was calling.

This company came out and had it fixed and everyone’s water back on by 11pm. Cost us $1500 (night call plus the work). I happily wrote the check and a board member happily came by and signed it. I had 20 people happy but did anyone say thanks for working until 11pm for us to have water? No. Did I actually expect anyone to be appreciative? Well, I was hoping for 1 or 2! Oh well, I did my job though and I’m getting paid for it so it’s all good.

Saturday I drove my son to Katy TX to meet up with some friends. They had a blast and I picked them up after 4 hours and brought my son and 3 of his friends back to this side of Houston. Yesterday I drove my son to west Houston to meet up with a couple of other friends and they all went to a water park. It looked like they had a great time too.

My son with his 2 friends. My sons shirt was a birthday gift to him from Venus and he loves it.

I also finally got Lucky his service dog vest. When I put it on, he stays right next to me and listens and does exactly what he’s supposed to. This cutie was born to be a service dog!

Anyway, the city of Houston doesn’t allow fireworks inside city limits. I know that is not going to stop some people so I’ll be walking the neighborhood tonight to stop anyone that does (not really, I’ll just be walking him and people will think I’m checking). Have a great day!

How ridiculous it is that a city employee blew you off like that! What a creep. I’m glad that the problem was resolved.

It was after 5, guy wanted to go home, too lazy, etc etc. I could be rude like my neighbor and discuss his race and weight but I thought that was too much 😉😂

Yeah, a bit too much! That has zero to do with the issue at hand, so why do it!
